... in surprisingly good shape considering how I ended up yesterday. I was on my knees if that's possible on a bike. But I did the 130km and I got a yellow rosette. However, I'm not sure it was the cleverest thing I've ever done. For one thing, it was baking hot. For another, the extra 30 miles was the scenic route (Biddenden, Sissinghurst, Curtisden Green etc) just as I had hoped, but it was also the roughest road surface (country lanes) and the most painful. I was one of the last to finish the long route and that was because all the other riders seemed to be team riders and pros. The amateurs did the 'short' 80km route... where I should have been!

I had bad cramps in my legs the last 10 miles so had a very cold bath soon as I got home and that has helped a lot (tip: sit in the empty bath first, then turn on the cold tap; it still hurts, but more gradually)
